Composer/Conductor

Daniel Lubin is a composer and conductor whose work is driven by a fascination with the latent potential of musical material. He explores how sound can articulate its own logic, unfolding through performance and composition. His music attends to the spaces between events, to the relational boundaries that form themselves in time and the ways they illuminate the structures of musical experience.

Born to a Russian-Jewish immigrant family, Daniel was exposed from an early age to a wide spectrum of musical influences. This early immersion nurtured a curiosity for how music can emerge from its own conditions and an enduring interest in the expressive possibilities inherent in the enigmatic quality of sound. His practice emphasizes collaboration, attentiveness to the physicality of performance, and a constant exploration of the dialogue between composer, material, and interpreter.

Daniel has conducted both contemporary and classical repertoire internationally, including as a conducting fellow at the Mostly Modern Festival, where he performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles and premiered works by emerging composers. A graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied under John Corigliano, he is currently specializing in contemporary repertoire conducting with Arturo Tamayo at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana.
